Opened in 1884, the course remained unchanged until 1978. At that time the 8th, 9th, and 10th holes had to be rebuilt due to erosion. Mother Nature has taken this land and has easily fashioned it into one of the best golf courses in Northwest England. The Formby has hosted the British Amateur Championship three times.
