The course was designed in 1903 by Herbert Fowler who used natural hollows and channels for drainage, so the fairways equal the best on any seaside links, and quickly dry out even after a severe storm. Erratic shots, wide of the prepared surface are wickedly punished and weekend players are tormented in awful fashion.
