Having hosted the Irish Open many times and the Walker Cup, it is said by many to have the finest five finishing holes in golf. Golf Magazine places it #54 in the world. One of Ireland's most prestigious clubs, the old clubhouse is set out on a peninsula, surrounded by the Irish Sea on the outskirts of Dublin. When Portmarnock first opened for play in 1894, golfers reached the first tee by boat, but now a road takes you out to the club. This course is considered by many to be one of the top five courses in Ireland, and measures 7054 yards and is a par 72. The course record of 66 is held by Christy O'Connor and Gary Player. Portmarnock is a pleasure to play, when you are fortunate enough to get on! Warning - allow enough time to make it to the course and do not be late here!!!
