Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. over 20 years ago the course at Adare Manor has always led the rankings on Ireland’s top parkland courses – but the complete reimagining by Tom Fazio that opened in 2018 has catapulted the layout into the World’s Top 100.
While the routing and hole order remain the same – each hole now enjoys its own distinct personality with some great risk/reward opportunities for competitions.
Already tournament tested by owner J.P. McManus’ illustrious Pro-Am, the eyes of the golfing world will all be focused here when the venue hosts the 2027 Ryder Cup Matches.
The scenic routing covering 135 acres of the 840-acre estate takes advantage of wonderful vistas of the impressive castle-like manor house that was once the seat of the Earls of Dunraven along the banks of the River Maigue.
Ireland’s famous liquid sunshine which keeps the Emerald Isle green is no match for the technology that was also installed during the renovation.
Like Augusta National GC the greens here have all been equipped with Ireland’s first Sub Air system, the fairways and rough areas were all sand-capped, the bunkers outfitted with Capillary Concrete liners, new underground drainage, irrigation, water delivery systems put in throughout the design and there are no long rough areas. All are designed to deliver the driest possible conditions for golfers regardless of precipitation.
Just as no expense was spared on the creation of the new course, JP McManus’ vision for creating the World’s #1 Resort was actualized by Conde Nast in 2022. There are a variety of accommodation choices in the original Manor House, new wing, Manor Lodges, and Manor Cottages. All are appointed to invoke 19th-century grandeur but feature luxurious 21st-century amenities. The Signature Suites even feature Butler Service.
The bountiful breakfast is the perfect start to the day, complete with American-style bacon. After golf, dine at the Michelin star restaurant The Oak Room and enjoy a final nightcap of Bailey’s or Irish whiskey, your every whim is catered to at Adare Manor.
Activities outdoors beyond the golf course are as varied as the menus – falconry, fishing, cycling, shooting, axe throwing, archery, and walking trails. Indoors their Padel Club features the first indoor Padel courts in Ireland – Europe’s fastest growing sport a bit like Pickleball, a 17m pool, steam sauna, gym, and contemplative studio. The Spa at Adare is the first in Ireland to offer the luxurious experience of 111SPA/CLINIC treatments and products.
