The iconic Torrey Pines is a 36-hole municipal golf course on San Diego’s picturesque coastline cliffs. With a total elevation of 380 feet, both 18-hole championship courses offer unmissable, panoramic views over the Pacific Ocean from their clifftops.
Torrey Pines golf course is located in the community of La Jolla, San Diego, just south of Torrey Pines State Reserve – an attraction in its own right. Having the US Open in 2021 and the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open annually, it’s easy to see why this breathtaking golf course is one of the most popular golf package destinations in the US.
Both Torrey Pines golf courses are famous for their pristine fairways, thick rough and ample bunkering, but the South Course offers a slightly more challenging round of golf to really test your skills.
Golf course designer, Rees Jones, remodeled the South Course back in 2001, and it’s now an impressive 7,805 yards in length.
The North Course at Torrey Pines is the shorter course of the two, offering a less demanding 18-hole experience with the same spectacular views. The course was designed by legendary golf course architect, William P Bell, and later completed by his son.

Torrey Pines golf course is in a prime location, situated just outside of the community of La Jolla in the north of San Diego. San Diego itself offers 70 miles of stunning coastline and sandy beaches, with several must-visit beaches located near the course.
Torrey Pines golf course also borders Torrey Pines State Reserve, offering trails, lagoons and wildlife spotting – including the occasional dolphins and bobcats. You can even take a short trip into the city of San Diego to explore the famous San Diego Zoo, Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park or USS Midway Museum.
Torrey Pines is a short 20-minute drive from central San Diego and the airport (SAN). Los Angeles is also located less than 2 hours north of the resort, with LAX airport offering national and international flights.
