Pronghorn Resort has been given a rebirth under the new moniker of Juniper Preserve. In keeping with the resort’s philosophy of integrating seamlessly into the natural beauty and ecosystem of the Oregon landscape. It is also in honor of the resilient Juniper trees that populate the area. However, guests at the two highly-rated Oregon golf courses enjoy a stay under the guise of the Pronghorn Golf Club.
Equally confusing is that Juniper Preserve is centrally located in Bend, home to David McLay Kidd, the initial architect of Bandon Dunes. It is also home to his private Tetherow course on the Bend golf scene. Bandon Dunes, however, is situated several hours away on the coast. While it is possible and enjoyable to combine the two on an Oregon golf trip, it is important to note they are not closely located to each other.
With a mindful approach to the game, Pronghorn golf consists of two courses. A Jack Nicklaus Signature championship course, a Tom Fazio-designed championship course, the Pronghorn Golf Academy, The Horn golf shop, and the True Spec Bend facility.
The Jack Nicklaus Signature course is crafted to play firm and fast with exceptionally true greens and an emphasis on strategy. The course takes advantage of its natural surroundings including the backdrop of the Cascade Mountains and its rolling fairways weave amongst ancient lava outcrops.
Over on the Tom Fazio course, that ancient lava has created a unique one-of-a-kind feature, an open exposed lava tube next to the green on the par 3, 8th hole. The layout highlights the native Juniper trees, with stunning water features providing additional hazards.
The Pronghorn Golf Academy, one of the finest in the Northwest, utilizes the Jeff Ritter Make The Turn performance coaching program. There are all levels of teaching available from juniors to adults in private or group settings, as well as golf schools, clinics and corporate engagement.
The True Spec Bend facility is an indoor-to-outdoor fitting facility with a full grass range, state-of-the-art putting studio, Foresight GCQuad launch monitor technology, and a proprietary fitting matrix of over 50k clubhead and shaft combos to maximize your hitting potential.
Wellness is key to the Juniper Preserve experience and the Juniper Spa invites guests to engage in their treatments, classes or distinctive retreats.
The Juniper Lodge, reminiscent of a hunting lodge, and handsomely fashioned from wood and stone, features 89 luxuriously appointed rooms. Offering standard two queen, standard king, deluxe king or the penthouse – which sleeps six. You can opt to add a living room to your single accommodation that allows extra room and features a wood-burning fireplace and private terrace.
For larger groups, the resort also has vacation rentals in one, three, and four-bedroom configurations and private homes.
