Few destinations make it as easy to build a varied golf vacation around a single base as Vilamoura.

Set in the heart of Portugal’s Algarve, Vilamoura combines several distinctive courses with a lively marina, beaches, restaurants and luxury accommodations, all within easy reach of Faro Airport. Designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1969, it is one of Portugal’s most established layouts, winding through mature pine trees and rolling fairways. The former Victoria Course has meanwhile been transformed into The Els Club Vilamoura. Designed by Ernie Els as his first private members’ golf club in Europe, access is now exclusive rather than forming part of the standard public Vilamoura golf offering.

For visiting golfers, that leaves four established public-access courses with enough contrast to create a varied multi-round trip from one convenient base.
