The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa combines lavish facilities with two exclusive Sawgrass golf courses, providing the perfect place to stay and play in Florida.
The Players Stadium is the home of The Players Championship and was built as one of the first true Stadium Courses, promising an excellent on-site fan experience and unforgettable golf. Try your hand at the infamous island green on the 17th hole.
Dye’s Valley is consistently ranked as one of the best courses in Florida, and for good reason. This Sawgrass golf course comprises 36 holes and an abundance of water, all with rolling hills and valleys as your backdrop. Guests at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa can book TPC Sawgrass tee times up to 12 months in advance.
Follow in the footsteps of golf pros before relaxing under the Floridian sun or winding down with luxury spa treatments on a Sawgrass golf vacation. For time off the resort, take the short drive to Jacksonville and explore the unique attractions here.
TPC Sawgrass is best known as the home of The Players Championship and one of the most recognizable venues in professional golf. Located in Ponte Vedra Beach near Jacksonville, the complex gives visiting golfers the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of the game’s leading players across two championship courses.
The centerpiece is The Players Stadium Course, designed by Pete Dye in collaboration with former PGA Tour Commissioner Deane Beman. Opened in 1980, it was created as the first true “stadium” course, with spectators in mind as well as the professionals competing inside the ropes. Its shaping and natural viewing areas would go on to influence tournament-course design around the world.
Although the island green on the par-3 17th is its defining image, the Stadium Course is much more than one famous hole. Dye intended the layout to test every part of a golfer’s game without consistently favoring a particular shot shape or playing style. Water, bunkering, angles and closely guarded greens continually ask players to make decisions rather than simply hit the ball as far as possible.
Together with Dye’s Valley Course, this makes TPC Sawgrass a compelling destination for golfers who want to experience both an iconic tournament venue and a broader introduction to Pete Dye’s strategic design principles.
Home to two championship courses, both designed by Pete Dye, the TPC Sawgrass offers guests of the Marriott Sawgrass Golf Resort almost exclusive access to their club. Guests are able to book tee times up to 12 months in advance, as opposed to the standard two weeks for non-staying guests, guaranteeing the very best tee times for those staying at the luxury golf resort. As well as the TPC Sawgrass, there are plenty of other amazing courses just a short distance away, providing ample opportunities for golf in a variety of environments.
Consistently ranking among the very best courses in the world, The Players Stadium Course was designed by Pete Dye to be the home of the Players Championship. The course has a balanced layout, designed to favor no particular style of play and therefore provide opportunity to every golfer who takes to its fairways.
Host to the most famous 17th hole in golf, the course is a test for even the most talented of golfers, and the dramatic finale can play on the mind of seasoned professionals and novices alike.
Another Peter Dye design, Dye’s Valley Course ranks highly among the top courses in Florida, and poses another challenge to those who tackle its greens. This par-72 course is beautifully designed with lush greenery, and tests players with water hazards near every hole, a true examination of shotmaking.
The King & Bear at World Golf Village is a par-72 championship course that blends the design philosophies of two golf legends, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Meandering through pristine lakes, towering loblolly pines, and ancient live oaks draped in Spanish moss, the course captures the essence of northern Florida’s natural beauty. With wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and scenic water features, the King & Bear offers both a challenge and a visual feast, making every round as memorable for the setting as it is for the play.

Playing the Stadium Course combines the excitement of a familiar televised setting with a demanding strategic test. Many of the holes will be recognizable to golf fans, but their contours, angles and visual intimidation become far more apparent when standing on the tee.
Golfers must think carefully about where to place drives and approach shots. Dye frequently presents a tempting target before revealing the penalty for choosing the wrong angle or taking on more risk than necessary. Selecting suitable tees is important, as the course’s challenges come from its positioning and hazards rather than length alone.
The closing stretch provides a suitably dramatic finale. The par-5 16th offers scoring opportunities but brings water into play for golfers attempting to reach the green in two. The par-3 17th then requires a committed shot to an almost entirely water-surrounded green, while the par-4 18th asks players to navigate one of the most intimidating tee shots on the course with water running along the left side.
Dye’s Valley Course provides a valuable second round. Designed by Pete Dye, Bobby Weed and player consultant Jerry Pate, the course opened in 1987 and has hosted professional events of its own. Water hazards, undulating terrain and carefully positioned bunkers create another strategic challenge, but the experience has its own identity rather than feeling like a lesser version of the Stadium Course. Playing both layouts allows golfers to appreciate the full TPC Sawgrass experience while seeing how similar architectural ideas can produce two distinct rounds.
The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort is known for its world-class facilities. Boasting four pools, 26 miles of beautiful beach and a world renowned spa, it’s a place of true luxury and grandeur. The Sawgrass Spa has a fully equipped fitness center, state of the art whirlpool and a steam room, as well as offering a range of treatments including skincare, massages and hydrotherapy.
Marriott Sawgrass’ restaurants include a variety of eating options offering beautiful views across the resort. Vernon’s First Coast Kitchen & Bar serves local ingredients and is a favorite among patrons, while the American Gator Club offers truly unique views of Florida’s wildlife with views of the lagoon, as well as overlooking the action with views of the 13th hole at The Stadium Course.

Demand for TPC Sawgrass tee times is understandably high, particularly during the most popular periods for Florida golf. Standard public tee times are generally released within a much shorter booking window, while golfers reserving an eligible stay-and-play experience can typically secure their rounds considerably further in advance. This makes a planned golf package particularly useful for groups traveling on fixed dates.
TPC Sawgrass green fees vary according to the course, season and chosen experience. Rates may include more than the round itself, such as a golf cart, practice balls and forecaddie service. Golfers should also remember that forecaddie gratuities are usually separate and budget accordingly.
Scheduling rounds on both the Stadium and Dye’s Valley courses creates a more complete itinerary. A practice session or less demanding first round can also help golfers adjust to Florida conditions before taking on the Stadium Course.
Course access can be affected by The Players Championship preparations, scheduled maintenance and seasonal conditions. Booking well ahead allows greater flexibility around closures and preferred tee times. Premier Golf can coordinate the golf, transfers and wider arrangements, helping groups build a seamless TPC Sawgrass trip or combine the destination with additional courses in northeast Florida.

It had been a dream of mine to play the Stadium Course, as a Pete Dye fan and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We received a warm welcome and a cool introduction about the complex. After checking in we hit some balls on the range and continued to the first tee. I have never felt as nervous. The course was in fantastic condition and I ended up playing the round of my life. All of the staff were very friendly and the food in the clubhouse was excellent.
I can’t wait to return to TPC Sawgrass and until then, I will highly recommend it to friends and other golfers.
