London Golf & South East England Golf Tours

You can spend a dedicated week (or month) playing the fantastic heathland courses around London and another week playing the challenging links of southeast England, but with limited time combining the best of the two destinations creates one of the best golf itineraries in golf.

The famed Kent coastline is home to Open Championship rota venue Royal St Georges, and is complemented by Princes and Royal Cinque Ports to make a fine links-land trio.

Often overlooked by Americans, the heathland courses of the Surrey and Berkshire sandbelt include; Swinley Forest, The Berkshire, Sunningdale, St George’s Hill, and Walton Heath.

With an especially rich history, they exhibit similar playing characteristics as true links, but with beautiful but penal heather posing an additional hazard.

Key Features

Enjoy the iconic sights of London while playing world class golf. Combine the Surrey sandbelt, west of the City, with the famed links of the Kent coast, in the south east. With direct flights into London Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW), the spectacular trip is both convenient from across the U.S.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

  • Arrive at Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Transfer to the Bell Hotel, Sandwich.

  •  Rest of the day at leisure or sightseeing.

Day 2

  • Play Royal Cinque Ports – Deal hosted two Open Championships in 1909 and 1920 but has the distinction of sadly losing hosting four more in 1915, 1938, 1942, and 1949 due to war and flooding.

The club is known throughout the UK for its annual hosting of the amateur Halford Hewitt Tournament.

Day 3

  • Play Royal St Georges – Storied St George’s has hosted 15 Open Championships, most recently won by Collin Morikawa in 2021 after a Covid-19 postponement from 2020.

Day 4

  • Play Princes (18 or 27 holes) – Site of Gene Sarazan’s wire-to-wire record-breaking performance in the 1932 Open Championship.

  • Transfer to Macdonald Windsor Hotel.

Day 5

  • Play Swinley Forest – It has been cited as Harry Colt’s finest design. Not a “championship” course in the strictest sense of the definition but an utterly delightful aristocratic members course one never tires of playing.

Day 6

  • Play St Georges Hill – This Top 100 Harry Colt-design features 27-holes on the outskirts of London’s original real estate development, now one of the priciest communities in the world.
    (Alternative golf at Walton Heath)

Day 7

  • Play Sunningdale Old (add New for 36-hole day) – The quintessential English golf day out – come for the championship heathland golf and stay for a Pimm’s Cup or G & T on the terrace after your round.

Day 8

  • Breakfast at the hotel, depart from London Heathrow or Gatwick

Mike’s Tip

While in England’s south east, make sure you spend some time in the centre of London. The ‘Square Mile’ in the very centre of the city includes the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral. Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the famed parks are only a short stroll further.

Visit England with Premier Golf

Our dedicated team will work with you and your group to determine the best after-round activities and dining experiences. Obviously, in Windsor, a trip to Castle is a must. For non-golfers, there are sightseeing day trips to Stonehenge, Bath, London city center, Rye and Romney Marsh, and Leeds Castle to name a few. It is possible to combine a night out in London when you are staying in Windsor for dinner or the theater, however we recommend extending your trip for a few days to really experience all the historic city has to offer.
