This beautifully restored 4-star Victorian boutique hotel sits on the cliffs overlooking St. Andrews Bay. The new food & wine motif is part of the chic Hotel Du Vin chain of exquisite small properties of high standard and excellent reviews. The 36 bedrooms are clean, fresh and attractively furnished and some overlook the coastline and toward the golf courses. Located just two hundred meters from the first tee of the Old Course, this hotel is the perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere in golf’s most iconic town. Guests will enjoy relaxing on a single malt whisky or choosing from the many wine by-the-glass and beer selections in the uber-cool cocktail bar. For elegant cuisine made with local ingredients, the Bistro Du Vin is the perfect fine dining experience and one of the most popular with “foodies” in St Andrews. Ma Bells, a very famous pub/lounge (where Prince William & Princess Kate met while students at the University) is located adjacent to the Golf Hotel and is a great place to hang out with the locals. The Hotel Du Vin is widely regarded as the best boutique value in town! Premier Golf Rating: A

Kingsbarns Golf Links: Opened in 2000, and only six miles south-east from St. Andrews, Kingsbarns Golf Links was developed by two Californians (Mark Parsinen and Art Dunkley), and designed by a third, Kyle Phillips, one of the top new architects in the business. The course was carved from farmland that sweeps majestically along the sea, between the villages of Kingsbarns and Crail. The sea figures prominently on every hole at Kingsbarns and the course (four sets of tees range from 5142-7126 yards) looks like it has been there for 200 years, although it only opened in July 2000 (there was an older 9 hole course on the site from 1793-1939). On more than half the holes, the sea is directly in the golfer’s active frame of play, so bring a camera because this is one of the most scenic courses in the world. Sir Michael Bonallack, Captain of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club (the R&A bought part of the course!) says, “Mere words cannot convey just how extraordinary the place is … it must be seen to be believed … and once seen it will never be forgotten.” Many travelers remark that Kingsbarns is their favorite and most beautiful links course in Scotland. Come early, the complimentary practice range and putting green are among the best practice facilities in Scotland. The course is ranked #65 in The 2015 Golf Magazine World Top 100.
Gleneagles - King's Course: Known for its superb maintenance condition (for a Scottish course), Gleneagles King's features a tough uphill first hole and two fine finishing holes, the dogleg 17th where your tee shot cannot run to the right, and the downhill 18th toward the stately hotel in the distance. In between are a series of beautiful holes that require accurate shotmaking and constant course management to navigate the ever-present trouble spots. For years the Kings Course was site of the Scottish Open typically held the week before the British Open.
Gleneagles - Queen's Course: Threading through high ridges on the north and west sides of the estate, the Queen's offers lovely woodland settings, lochans and ditches as water hazards and many moorland characteristics. The course opens near the "Trystin Tree" on the first and concludes with an exhilarating drive across a small lochan to a generous rolling fairway that leads to a large green next to the Dormy House on the last. In between, the rolling layout is as easy on the eye as it is warming to the heart.
St. Andrews Jubilee: First opened in 1897, the Jubilee is the most seaward of the six courses which comprise St. Andrews Links. As a result of its location, the dunes are higher and rougher and the scale of the landscape is grander than the more landward courses. Following a partial remodel in 1989, the Jubilee became a very high-caliber links that many consider the second-best course in town.
