Women’s golf has come a long way since Mary Queen of Scots was hailed as the first female golfer. Today, The Solheim Cup enables professional female golfers from the United States and Europe to compete against each other, with 12 of the best players from each side playing for their country.
As the equivalent to the men’s Ryder Cup, this tournament is held every two years, alternating locations and years with The Ryder Cup. In 2024, The Solheim Cup will be hosted by Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.
Founded in 1990, the first Solheim Cup was held at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Florida. Since then, the tournament has been held at multiple US and European locations, without ever being held in the same place twice.
Held over three days, The Solheim Cup follows a similar format to the men’s equivalent, with 28 matches comprising eight foursomes and eight four-balls on the first two days, and 12 singles on the final day. Our Solheim Cup packages can place you at the forefront of the action and show you the best that Prince William County and Washington DC have to offer.

Situated on the shores of Lake Manassas, the private club creates a picturesque, serene setting, in stark contrast to the drama that will take place during the tournament. Although only one hole plays across the lake itself, a number of fairways run adjacent, with visual elements toying with the mind of the players
Opened in 1991, the course was designed and built by Robert Trent Jones Sr., and despite his career including the design and remodeling of over 450 courses worldwide, he claims this one to be his masterpiece.
Intended as a championship course from the outset, Robert Trent Jones Golf Clubs has pedigree in matchplay tournaments, hosting the first 4 Presidents Cups on US soil, between 1994 and 2005. The course also held a Tiger Woods-hosted PGA Tour event in 2015. Allegedly former president Barak Obama was among its list of private members, during his time in the Whitehouse.
Have the trip of a lifetime at the 2024 Solheim Cup. Our packages include tickets, the opening ceremony, accommodations, and transfers to the course. Enjoy a welcome drinks reception, a hosted golf day, and on-the-ground Premier Golf staff to ensure a seamless tournament experience.

Points are awarded to the top forty participants in each qualifying event and are spread across five major championships (The Chevron Championship, U.S. Women’s Open, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Amundi Evian Championship, AIG Women’s Open). Similar to the Ryder Cup there are also captain picks, most recently Team USA had three picks, and Team Europe four.
