South Africa has safaris where you can see the Big 5 (elephant, leopard, buffalo, lion and rhino). Two of the best safari options are Kruger National Park and Pilanesberg Game Reserve. High on the golf course must play list are Leopard Creek Country Club, Fancourt Links, Gary Player Country Club, Arabella Golf Club, Pinnacle Point, Pezula and Pearly Valley Golf Estate.

New Zealand

Offering a truly stunning landscape of amazing glaciers, snow capped mountains, gorgeous coastal stretches, vast plains and lush forests, New Zealand is one of the most picturesque countries in the world. Golf course architects like Jack Nicklaus and Robert Trent Jones Jr. has used some of the spectacular topography to create incredible layouts. Once golf is completed for the day, couples have a wealth of activities to enjoy such as wine tours and tastings in twelve wine regions, helicopter tours of volcanic craters, scenic train trips and boat cruises and dolphin and whale watching. Top courses to play include Cape Kidnappers, Kauri Cliffs, Kinloch Golf Club, Jack’s Point and Tara Iti Golf Club.

There are more than 430 golf courses in popular tourist areas like the Costa del Sol, Canary Islands and Balearic Islands. Spain has engaging cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Valencia that are an absolute joy to walk and enjoy great dining and shopping. Some of Europe’s best courses are located in Spain such as Real Valderrama, PGA Catalunya, Real Sotogrande and Finca Cortesin. Sightseeing, visiting historical attractions, winery tours and upscale shopping in Madrid and Barcelona are just a few of the many activities popular with golfers visiting Spain.

Portugal

Highlighted by the historic city of Lisbon and its urban offerings and the Algarve with its golden sands, aquamarine waters, natural rock arches and caves, Portugal has something for everyone.  The golf menu on the Algarve has 42 9-hole or 18-hole courses along this beautiful stretch of coast, which is dotted with quaint seaside villages dotted with marinas, boutique shops and restaurants. The Algarve has superb dining options with six Michelin star restaurants in the region and a bevy of al fresco opportunities.  In addition to a wide variety of beach activities, there are numerous historic attractions as well as boat trips through caves and rock formations, dolphin watching and shopping excursions.
