The storied Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio will host the 2021 Solheim Cup. Designed by Donald Ross, the Inverness has a major golf championship pedigree by hosting four U.S. Opens and two PGA Championships. A tree laden, spectator-friendly layout with the 1st and 10th tees located side by side, Inverness opened in 1916. With various tweaks and improvements through the years, it remains as relevant today as when it hosted its first major championship, the 1920 U.S. Open.
Off the course, Toledo is a hidden gem tourist destination with a highly acclaimed Toledo Zoo, Toledo Botanical Garden and the magnificent Toledo Museum of Art, where you can view Rembrandts and Rubens paintings and an array of beautiful glassworks. Equally impressive is the city’s picturesque Old East End area, where a splendid collection of Victorian and Georgian mansions and churches are located. Casino gambling is possible at Hollywood Casino Toledo, which has 125,000 square feet of gaming space. For dining, Toledo is well known for its superb Italian restaurants, steak chop houses and Tony Packo’s, a legendary Hungarian restaurant that opened in 1932.
