Top 8 Reasons You Should Visit Bandon Dunes For Your Next Golf Trip

Bandon Dunes

If you haven’t visited Bandon Dunes you may have a difficult time understanding “golf as it was meant to be”. For the golf lover and purist, Bandon Dunes is an absolute must play. There are dozens of reasons you and your buddies should take a golf trip here but it would take all day to list those, so we’ve come up with eight:

Four Championship Golf Courses — Bandon Dunes’ four Championship golf courses include Pacific Dunes, Old Macdonald, Bandon Dunes and Bandon Trails. It’s very rare to find a golf resort that has such diversity and choice. Old Macdonald is a classic links style course. Even a purist might consider Old Macdonald a true links course; it’s just that great. Pacific Dunes and Bandon Dunes play off the ocean like Pebble Beach with stunning views and treacherous winds.  Bandon Trails is a parkland course with massive trees, small meadows and rolling dunes. Many feel the need to skip the Trails course because there’s no ocean, which is a big mistake as Bandon Trails is an experience not to be missed.

Affordable months of travel — Have you had enough touristy golf scenes? Well, this year you should give Bandon Dunes a try during the months of May and June. The rates are lower and the property is much less crowded.

Phenomenal Par 3 course — Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Bandon Preserve is not your typical par 3 course. The views of the ocean are spectacular and the layout forces the player to be creative and strategic. The course is equipped with false fronts, mini pot bunkers, fast greens and blind shots that will definitely settle all bets made between playing partners. Don’t forget to stop at the little bunker bar off number two for a snack and an ice-cold beverage. All proceeds from your round on this gem go to The Wild Rivers Coast Alliance whose projects support the local community.

18 hole Punch Bowl Putting Course (May 2014) –– Located behind the Pacific Dunes clubhouse, the Punch Bowl putting course is a massive green with elevation changes, “volcano dune features” and doglegs. The inspiration comes from the Himalayas putting course in St. Andrews, where the designer Tom Doak lived for two months after college.
5 star quality lodging- Sometimes you have to sacrifice comfort for seclusion. Not at Bandon Dunes. All accommodations on property are outstanding and are appointed with desired amenities like plush bedding, HD televisions and WiFi. Your choices encompass the Grove Cottages, Chrome Lake lofts, Lily Pond rooms, The Inn and the original Lodge.

Awesome looking clothing line — Have you ever enjoyed a round of golf so much that you would even buy an over priced logo shirt at the pro shop, then you get home and realize the logo looks cheesy and the colors don’t match? This is not the case at Bandon Dunes, each golf course has its own logo and the styles are sponsored by top brands like Peter Miller, Ashworth and Link Soul. The clothes are sold at affordable prices and each pro shop has a discount rack with styles from the previous year.

Delicious food — How can a resort be secluded but at the same time have world-class fare? At Bandon Dunes you can choose from a number of different options at one of the many restaurants on property.

Professional Caddie Program — Caddies can enhance any golf experience. Bandon Dunes has an exceptional group of professional caddies that work at their facility. They know the courses, take their jobs seriously and want to ensure every client has a great experience even if they aren’t playing well.
