Best Casa de Campo Golf Courses Guide
Why Casa de Campo is One of the Caribbean’s Top Golf Resorts
Before teeing off on the fourth hole of Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog, I paused to take in the view. The green is perched five feet above the ocean, and the waves crash against the jagged rocks that make up the cliff sides. It was a moment to truly appreciate the beauty of this iconic course—and a reminder that no other track in the Caribbean presents a setting like this.
During my time at the resort, I was overtaken by the exclusivity and serenity of the island. When it comes to Caribbean golf, the biggest draw is Casa de Campo. With top-rated championship-level courses, unmatched variety, and its raw natural beauty, you’ll see the best that the region has to offer.
I believe golfing in the Dominican Republic presents its players with a larger and grander experience than the rest of the Caribbean. Spanning 7,000 acres, there is a sense of exclusivity on the property.
Pete Dye is the godfather of the three courses that comprise Casa de Campo. The legendary course architect transformed the resort into a world-class golf destination that ranks amongst the best in the world.
In this guide, I will share my personal experiences and what you can expect when traveling to Casa de Campo. From the origins of the award-winning Teeth of the Dog, the breathtaking scenery, top dining options, and other helpful travel tips—this is everything you need to know to book a trip to the premier Caribbean resort.
Signature Course: Teeth of the Dog by Pete Dye
When Pete Dye designed Teeth of the Dog, he redefined what golf would look like in the Dominican Republic. Dye’s course was at the forefront of bringing global golf tourism to the Caribbean. What really makes his work special is his vision to not just impose a course onto the land, but work within the boundaries of the shoreline, creating a piece that is organic. Teeth of the Dog quickly earned international acclaim, rivaling top courses in the United States and Europe. The success of Teeth of the Dog demonstrated a new path for potential golf in non-traditional markets.
Today, for most golfers, the course is likely near the top of their bucket list. After closing in 2025 for renovations, the course will reopen in December 2025, featuring upgraded greens and resurfaced fairways, all while preserving Dye’s vision of a risk-reward build.
Teeth of the Dog: Tournament History and Championships
Casa de Campo has hosted the Latin America Amateur Championship twice—once in 2016 and again in 2019. Organized in conjunction with the Augusta National Golf Club, the winner receives an invitation to the Masters Tournament. In addition to the LAAC, Casa de Campo has also hosted various pro-am tournaments over the years, underscoring its reputation as a championship course.

The Course Experience: No Bark, All Bite
It doesn’t take long to understand where the namesake of the course derives from. I was instantly struck by the sharp coral rock along the coastline, resembling a canine’s bite. I experienced some of the most stunning golf I have played along stretches of this course. None more dramatic than the final stretch from holes 15 through 18 that run parallel to the shoreline of the Caribbean Sea.
The course itself is in pristine condition. The fairways are tightly mowed and defined. Dye intended to present challenging greens to his players. Slopes vary, with some rolling toward the sea, others toward the center of the green. The course presents a variety of short game play. The bunkers, filled with bright white sand, are sharply defined.

Other Championship Courses at Casa de Campo
Casa de Campo is the only resort in the region to offer not just one, but three premier golf courses. From the dramatic seaside holes of Teeth of the Dog to the inland design of Dye Fore and The Links, the course diversity is endless.
Pete Dye has a multi-generational legacy at Casa de Campo. In 2005, he returned to create a new experience with Dye Fore—A layout set over the top of cliffs that overlook the Chavón River and Caribbean Sea. Lastly, The Links provides a more traditional course layout that balances the resort’s trio.
Dye Fore: Pete Dye’s Inland Masterpiece
Built to complement Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore is a 27-hole course comprised of three nines: Chavón, Marina, and Lakes. The fairways allow you to be aggressive, but will still require precision as the nine is set within cliffsides of the river.
Perhaps the most scenic hole I played in all of my time at Casa de Campo is the 5th hole on the Chavón nine. This par 3 plays along the river, all while being framed by cliffs with a gorgeous jungle scenery.
Dye Fore is a classic Pete Dye course. I saw many of his signature design elements. Railroad ties line bunkers, and the placement of hazards made me play my most strategic game in a risk-reward style of play that he is famous for. It can’t go without mention that the maintenance of the course is immaculate. It provides a striking aesthetic while ensuring the preservation of the natural beauty that surrounds it.
Bringing your camera in your golf bag is a necessity when playing this course. The range of holes and distinct nines allows for a different experience each round. While Teeth of the Dog is the staple of Casa de Campo, it was Dye Fore that left me with my most unforgettable memories from my trip.

The Links: P.B. Dye’s Traditional Vision
With the help of Dye’s son, P.B., the duo designed The Links. The course brings a more traditional layout to the resort. Unlike the coastal cliffs of Teeth of the Dog and Dye Fore, The Links emphasises wide fairways, filled with strategic bunkering. You will see rolling hills and elevated greens that draw inspiration from some of the oldest and best UK golf courses.
To fully experience Dye’s design, I had to play all three courses. The Links’ classic design offers a gentle introduction to Casa de Campo, making it the perfect starting point. From there, take a step up Dye Fore to take on its strategic demands. Then, upon its reopening, finish with the ultimate test of Teeth of the Dog.
How to Play Casa de Campo
The resort offers comprehensive golf packages designed to maximize both your time on and off the course. Packages include access to all 3 of the courses (Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, and The Links). Designed to be seamless and for your enjoyment, you will receive an inclusive cart, caddie, and drinks while on the course.
Daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included during your stay. Beyond the fairways, take advantage of unique resort experiences like horseback riding or an afternoon of skeet shooting. Casa de Campo also provides a golf cart for your personal transport around the resort.

Booking, Travel & Access
If you would like to escape the cold and trade the snow for some sunshine, the peak season is December-April. The weather is just right and perfect for many rounds of golf and a Caribbean getaway. This is the Caribbean, so hurricane season is something to monitor when booking.
The closest airport is La Romana [LRM]. Though for the widest range of flights, I suggest booking your flight to Punta Cana [PUJ]. Once landed, Premier Golf will arrange your private transfers.
At a minimum, I would advise a 5-night stay. This will provide simpler access to the course and is best for the complete experience of Casa de Campo. The resort has many options beyond the course that cannot be done in a short stay. One place I kept coming back to was the Minitas Beach Club. Located on Minitas Beach, it offers a stunning view of the ocean. It is a luxurious but relaxing spot where you will have plenty of dining and drink options. Additionally, if you have the time, I suggest taking a catamaran to Saona Island to see more of the Caribbean and take in the crystal blue waters and beaches.
I also highly recommend staying in a premier-level room. This will provide the complete experience and give easier access to the courses.
