Bandon Dunes Resort-Set on Oregon’s southern coast, Bandon Dunes is a wonderland of miles of pristine shoreline, giant sand dunes, coastal forest and open meadows. Bandon Dunes has five spectacular 18-hole golf courses, including the jaw-dropping beautiful Sheep Ranch, which opened in June. Elevating the experience is a top-notch caddie program; Bandon Preserve, a 13-hole, par-3 layout with awesome Pacific Ocean panoramas designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw; Shorty’s, a complimentary 9-hole, par-3 course designed by David McLay Kidd; and the Punchbowl, a 100,000-square-foot, 18-hole putting course patterned after the Himalayas in St. Andrews.

 

Pronghorn Resort- Two of Oregon’s most highly-ranked courses are both located at Pronghorn. The par 72, 7379 yard Jack Nicklaus Signature Course incorporates ancient lava rock ridges and outcroppings and awesome views of the Cascade Mountains. Tom Fazio’s par 72, 7,462 yard championship layout has ancient lava rocks, amazing water features, a 45-foot canyon and beautiful juniper trees.

 

Sunriver Resort-Carefully preserved wetlands, forested meadows and beautiful water waters provide the terrain for 63 holes of golf at this outdoor lover’s paradise. The course line-up includes the par 72, 7,683 yard Crosswater designed by Bob Cupp, par 71, 7,012 yard Meadows by John Fought and the par 72, 6,847 yard Woodlands, a Robert Trent Jones design. There’s also a family-friendly nine-hole layout, Caldera Links, and a nine-hole putting course.

Portland-One of America’s most picturesque cities, Portland sits on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers with the snow-capped Mount Hood in the distance. The walkable downtown core is brimming with microbreweries and coffee houses. Must see attractions include the Oregon Zoo, Lan Su Chinese Garden, Portland Saturday Market and Powell’s City of Books. For exercise enthusiasts, the 5,156-acre Forest Park has more than 70 miles of trails within the city.

Willamette Wine Valley- Attention all Pinot noir Lovers!  This 150-mile long/60-mile wide valley about 50 miles south of Portland is home to more than 500 wineries and tasting rooms and lots of award-winning Pinot noir. You’ll also find some great Pinot gris, Chardonnay and Pinot blanc. Some of the popular wineries to visit include King Estates, Adelsheim Vineyard, Archery Summit, Carlton Winemaker’s Studio, Cristom Vineyards, Domaine Serene and Elk Cove Vineyards. Town of Bend– Located near Pronghorn and Sunriver Resorts, this town of more than 100,000 people sits on the Deschutes River. It’s a gateway for many outdoor sports such as fishing, hiking and whitewater rafting. It has several award-winning resorts and if you like beer, you’re in luck, Bend is peppered with pubs and micro-breweries. Don’t miss the Bend Ale Trail, which will take you to 10 world-class craft breweries all within walking distance of each other. For the adventurous, head to Bend’s urban whitewater park on the river where you can enjoy whitewater kayaking, tube floating, river bodyboarding and more.

Fantastic Fishing– Whether you want to hit the open seas, fly fish in a pristine stream or drop a line in a shimmering lake, the options in Oregon are plentiful and enticing. Oregon has 36 miles of coastline and there a more than enough charter captains that will take you out to catch ocean salmon, halibut and albacore tuna to name a few. Inland, the Willamette Valley offers opportunities to catch chinook, trout and steelhead. The valley also has lots of lakes where bass, catfish, trout and crappies are the big catches. For rainbow trout, head to southern Oregon and the waters around Klamath Falls.
