Travel

Mexico has become one of the world’s most compelling golf destinations, where championship courses are set against landscapes as diverse as they are breathtaking. As Cinco de Mayo offers a moment to celebrate the country’s rich culture and heritage, it also serves as a reminder of the experiences that await. For those seeking a journey that blends world-class golf with refined travel, these five must-play courses showcase the very best of Mexico.

The Dunes Course

The Dunes Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas is Mexico’s first true links-style golf course, an extraordinary blend of Old World tradition and Baja’s raw natural beauty.

Designed by Davis Love III, the course was sculpted from a dramatic landscape of towering white sand dunes along the Pacific Ocean. Vast swaths of the terrain are entirely free of vegetation, giving the appearance of massive snow drifts cascading toward the sea.

El Camaleón

The Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón is the mainstay of Mexican golf and is considered to be a golfing masterpiece. Its oceanfront and jungle-lined fairways are among the best in the country. The course is situated in Playa del Carmen, with unique obstacles including subterranean caves and a crystal-clear lagoon.

18-holes adorn this course, each one presenting its own challenge and level of difficulty, making it appealing to both amateur and professional golfers. El Camaleón is one of the first Mexican golf courses to host a PGA Tournament, which commenced in 2007.

Solmar Golf Links

Solmar Golf Links was designed by Greg Norman and is the centerpiece of the opulent 834-acre resort. This 18-hole links-style course provides the opportunity to get strategic and challenge your play, while also ensuring you have plenty of fun on the course.

Even on an ‘off day’, the expansive ocean views from every hole will ensure your game has been eventful.

Gran Coyote

Gran Coyote Golf is a spectacular layout, artfully set in the coastal jungle. The course is built to challenge a golfer among the beauty of the destination and its unique location.

Gran Coyote offers magnificent greens, testing golfers with difficult winds, strategic bunkering, and seven acres of water hazards along the course. It is one of the best golf experiences in all of Mexico.

Quivira Golf Club

A Jack Nicklaus masterpiece, the cliff-top holes of Quivira are reminiscent of the iconic settings of Pebble Beach or Torrey Pines to the north. Tee off right on the beach, with the powerful waves of the Pacific Ocean crashing in the background, a spine-tingling experience.

From cactus-filled desert to windswept sand dunes and granite cliffs, the typography of the land adds to the drama of the course. Enjoy the Pacific from every hole of this must-play World top 100 layout.
