Browning took over the project in the late 1990s when there was a change in ownership due to environmental issues under the initial management.

Stewart Creek is situated in a wildlife migration area and when redesigning the initial routing Browning had to move his design to not be in the middle of it. He tells some wonderful stories of when he was building the course encountering a bear swimming in the pond on the 10th and 3 cougar kittens on the bridge on the 14th – fortunately ‘momma’ cougar was not in sight.

Stewart Creek is a public access club with very high demand in the summer. Green fees are highly dynamic and seasonal, based on whether you’re playing morning, afternoon, or in the summer vs the shoulder season. Advanced booking is practically mandatory, especially in July and August. Dress code is traditional modern golf, but a bit more relaxed than private clubs: collared shirts or proper golf-specific tops, golf shorts or trousers, and soft-spike golf shoes are recommended.
