A beautiful championship “heathland” course, The Dukes Course was designed by five-time Open Champion, Peter Thomson, and renovated again in 2006. Designing a course to reflect the wonderful heritage of the course’s location nearby the Home of Golf, one that would complement the five links courses and at the same time, meet the exacting demands of the modern golfer, was no easy task. The result is a versatile and challenging par 72 course, which enjoys maturity beyond its years. The fact that it was awarded such status in its first year is testimony to the brilliance of the course architect. The Dukes Course can be a stern test, but the forward tees will appeal to golfers of varied abilities, allowing you to appreciate the countryside, while enjoying the distinct character and challenge presented by each hole. The clubhouse is situated on an elevated site, overlooking the spectacular closing holes of play. It enjoys stunning panoramic views of the bay and town of St Andrews. Keep in mind that if you are staying at the St. Andrews Old Course Hotel, transfers are provided free of charge from the hotel to the course. Some carts are available.
