Dunbar Golf Club is a superb test of golf for golfers of any handicap, and is among the top “hidden gems” of Scotland located east of Edinburgh in East Lothian. The former course was built in the 1930’s and was a short but enjoyable 5200 yards, whereas the reconstructed course was founded in 1856 and now measures 6441 yards off the back tee’s. It is laid out on a narrow strip of land bordering the North Sea and stretches out for what seems like an eternity until you turn for home after the 10th hole. A stone wall runs along the entire course and there are spectacular views of Bass Rock out at sea. The club has hosted many championships of the years including the Scottish Amateur and British Bay’s Championship. The natural links are legendary in golfing circles for the testing holes, sea views and the force of the wind.
