The 2026 Solheim Cup will be held at Bernardus Golf, located in the heart of the Netherlands, 30 minutes north of Eindhoven, and 1 hour east of Rotterdam.
Bernardus is a Kyle Phillips design, the mastermind behind Kingsbarns, one of the most successful modern courses in Europe. Originally founded by the owner of the successful Portuguese destination Vale de Lobo, the course underwent a change of ownership in 2016, bringing the project to a conclusion, and resulting in the exceptional facility seen today.
The course is sand-based with a heathland feel due to the extensive heather that was bought in during development. Similar to any sand-belt course, extensive bunkering is a key feature of the design, sure to test the finest golfers from Europe and the USA during the tournament.
The modern clubhouse and exceptional practice facilities are contributing reasons for Bernardus being awarded this prestigious event. The layout has also been thoroughly tested for tournament play, having hosted the KLM (Dutch) Open from 2021 to 2023.
The Solheim Cup was established in 1990 by Karsten Solheim, the founder of Ping, and his family. It was modeled after the Ryder Cup and named in honor of Solheim and his contributions to women’s golf.
Over the years, the Solheim Cup has grown in stature, becoming one of the most anticipated events in women’s golf. It showcases the best female golfers from both sides of the Atlantic, competing not only for personal pride but also for national and continental honor.
The Solheim Cup, like the Ryder Cup, pits teams from Europe and the United States against each other in match play format. Team USA convincingly won the 2024 Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia, 15.5 points to 12.5. This was the first time Team USA has won the cup outright since 2017. The competition will return to Europe in 2026, with Team US looking to retain the trophy and win on European soil for the first time since 2015.
We had an excellent time! The hotel was great the local restaurants were fun- street music in Old Town, Suzi and Carlee took great care of us with transportation and any questions we had. Very friendly and professional so Thank you ladies! The golf at Stonehill was a challenge so wicked fun to have one of us get a hole in one and great opportunity to get along with the Brits. Thank you for a much needed pampered vacation I appreciate you And Connor Vogel was our ham and eggs
The Don Pepe Hotel was wonderful in so many ways…the breakfast buffet was huge with omelets made to order, fresh fruit, cheeses, etc. Our welcome dinner the 1st night was great. The hotel swimming pool with plenty of lounge chairs was wonderful. The location next to the “boardwalk” with dining nearby was great. I tried several of the restaurants at the hotel and had tasty meals at each one. Buses to the Solheim Cup worked out fine, although they didn’t have enough space to get all the buses scheduled at the same time into the limited parking area. Opening ceremonies was nicely done, but the closing ceremonies were a bit disappointing. Should have had both teams on stage and talks by both captains. It was nice to have tickets for the 1st tee box each day.
The golf courses we played were nice and in good condition, but lots of uphill and downhill climbing even with carts. I never realized Southern Spain was soooo hilly.
Great golf course but a lot of up hill and down hill walking. Not once did anyone check photo ID. The shuttle buses were a slight chaos. Great job by Premier getting reserved seats at the first tee!
Great experience. The logistics of the golf carts and pedestrians needed more thought to work together better . And the bus situation at the end was severely lacking. None of these issues had anything to do with Premier Golf though.

The tournament was inspired by the widely successful men’s Ryder Cup, and winners often go on to achieve international fame and lucrative sponsorship deals.
Solheim Cup teams (both USA and Europe) are determined by an automatic qualification system that is based on rankings and points scored. Points are awarded to the top forty participants in each qualifying event and are spread across five major championships (The Chevron Championship, U.S. Women’s Open, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Amundi Evian Championship, AIG Women’s Open). Similar to the Ryder Cup there are also captain picks, most recently Team USA had three picks, and Team Europe four.

This was the 8th consecutive Solheim Cup we’ve been to and logistically it was the worst. There were no signs on way to RTJ club to provide parking info when we went for practice round that Tuesday. Luckily, Premier Golf provided bus transportation directly to venue from our hotel since the public parking at Jiffy Lube Amphitheater was a 4 hour chaos. It was the first time in going to the Solheim that tickets for opening and closing ceremony were not available. It was a first come situation with very limited seating. The 1st tee bleaches had no crowd control. The concession stands throughout the venue had no coffee (became available by final round). Temps in the morning were in the 50s.
