Turnberry Golf Club in Scotland was established in 1902, then in 1906, the magnificent Turnberry Hotel opened, becoming Britain’s first purpose-built golf resort.
Colin Montgomerie’s father dedicated over 60 years of his life to playing and serving Royal Troon in Scotland. He was incredibly passionate about the links – believing it should be ranked among the greats on any Scottish Golf Tour especially a must on any Ayrshire Golf Trip.
If you’re a fan of pure links golf and the history of the game, the Prestwick Golf Course in Scotland is a must play course on the Ayrshire Golf Tour. The club was founded in 1851, and Old Tom Morris both designed the course, and became the resident professional and keeper of the greens.
