The event started out with a fabulous Welcome Dinner at our host hotel 'Kingsmill Hotel, Inverness' where we were piped to dinner by a traditional Scottish Piper. Chris Slattery from Avila Country Club had the honor of taking the first traditional taste of haggis during the 'address to the haggis' which by all accounts he seemed to enjoy. The practice round at Nairn Golf Club had everyone believing they were at the height of summer as the sun shone continuously. Overall the weather was excellent during our entire trip except for a few drops of rain here and there. The competition rounds were played at Royal Dornoch and Castle Stuart near Inverness and Cruden Bay and the new Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen.
The town of Inverness, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands was an exciting destination offering up great nightlife, top class restaurants and wonderful accommodations. After spending 4 nights in Inverness the group moved to Aberdeen and their respective hotels; Malmaison Hotel & the Marcliffe @ Pitfodels. Once again these accommodations proved to be top notch with first class hospitality. Our Farewell Awards Banquet was held at the Marcliffe @ Pitfodels Hotel and the entire evening from the reception to the meal to the awards presentation was a huge success with the group feasting on wonderful filet of Scottish beef.
The golf proved to be challenging but during the final round at Trump International Links in Aberdeen the winning team emerged!
Congratulations to Eric Redd, PGA Pro, Troy Laughlin, Jim Harris & Dave Kenney for taking the title of Champion Team!
The Low PGA Professional was Cary Splane of Marsh Creek Country Club in St. Augustine, Florida. This was Cary's second title in a Premier Golf competition; Cary won the Low Pro title at the 2011 Irish Pro Am. Cary played consistent golf for four rounds in the Highlands. Congratulations Cary!
