More Information

2016 British Open

The 145th Open Championship will be contested July 14-17 on one of the world’s most revered links courses, Royal Troon (Old Course). Exuding history in its clubhouse and grounds, Royal Troon, founded in 1878, has hosted the Open on eight previous occasions. Due to the direction of the prevailing wind, the back nine plays more difficult than the front setting up a tension-filled finish to the Championship. Royal Troon has two of shortest and longest holes in Open Championship Golf. The eighth, a 123-yar par 3, named the “Postage Stamp”, is one of the most famous holes in the world. The 601-yard sixth is a brutish par 5 demanding strength and precision.
